Independent financial professionals don’t have access to the same infrastructure and proprietary technology available within some larger company settings. About Tom

Tom joined Midland National in 1997 and has served as Regional Sales Director for the past 20 years. He and his regional team of six are located in the East Bay Area serving financial professionals throughout Northern California and the state of Hawaii. Tom’s staff is experienced; they know the Midland National product line inside and out, and help develop and foster new relationships. Together with producers, they field questions and become the liaison to the Administrative Office. This kind of robust local support frees Tom and Tracy O. Tamura (CLU®) to handle complex issues, advanced plan design, underwriting and high touch training that can bring more value to his advisers/agents.

Tom and his team help with business infrastructure allowing producers to stay in front of their clients and focus on building their individual businesses. Partnering with Tom is one way a financial professional can add value to their practice with access to a seasoned support team and best business practices.


Tom has been with Midland National for 20 years, and has 34 years in the financial services industry. Tom got his start in the business with New York Life in downtown Washington, D.C. where he worked for seven years. He also served as Regional Sales Manager for Fortis Financial Group and Life Agent/Registered Representative for The Acacia Group, LLC.

Education & Certification

Tom received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Tom holds his license as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), designation as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®). Tom has been an active member of NAIFA since 1983, and a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) since 1994. He is an active member and currently serves on the board of directors of the Society of Financial Services Professionals (SFSP) for CLU® and ChFC® designations.


Tom lives in the East Bay Area with his wife, Susan. Their two daughters attend college in Colorado and Georgia. Tom enjoys basketball and golf, fine dining and music. He’s an aspiring bass guitarist and band member.
